you will visit Tohoku (northern mainland). Sendai is Tohoku's business and commercial center
and nearby Matsushima is famous for its breathtaking marine sceneries.
You will stay at ryokan (Japanese inn) in the hot springs resort in Aizu-Wakamatsu.
The city is also famous for its historic legacies.

ABOUT AIRFARE:

1) Airline fuel surcharge is included in the tour fare.
2) Government tax/fees of about $85-$100 are not included, and must be paid together with the tour fare.
3) Airfares of U.S. carriers are NOT refundable. If you need to cancel the trip due to sickness, the airline may refund the airfare if you submit your doctor's note to the airline (subject to approval).
4) Airfares of Japanese airlines are refundable with $200 cancellation penalty. If you need to cancel your trip due to sickness, this cancellation penalty may be waived.

10) 7-day Japan Rail Pass (coach class). This will cover all trains for your trip other than those of Tohoku.

ITINERARY:

DAY 1 (FRI). LEAVE THE U.S.A FOR TOKYO
You will depart from your hometown for Tokyo. Crossing the International Date Line you will lose one calendar day; you will gain it back on your return.
DAY 2 (SAT). ARRIVE TOKYO
You will arrive at Tokyo's Narita Airport in the afternoon. You will process your Japan Rail Passes at JR (Japan Railways) Narita Airport Station, and then transfer by Airport Limousine Bus to your hotel in downtown Tokyo (2 nights).
DAY 3 (SUN). TOKYO
Enjoy a morning motor coach tour of Tokyo, visiting Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace Gardens and Asakusa Kannon Temple. The tour will disband in the Ginza around 1:00pm. Afternoon is at your leisure.
DAY 4 (MON). TOKYO/KYOTO
You will travel via the Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. You will stay at New Miyako Hotel or similar (2 nights). This afternoon you will enjoy motor coach tour of Nara, Japan's oldest capital prospered in the 8th century. The tour highlights included Todaiji (Great Buddha) Temple, Kasuga Grand Shrine, and Deer Park.
DAY 5 (TUE). KYOTO
Enjoy a morning motor coach tour of Kyoto, visiting Kyoto Imperial Palace, Nijo Castle, and Kinkakuji (Gold Pavilion) Temple. The tour will disband at Kyoto Handicraft Center. Afternoon is at your leisure.
DAY 6 (WED). KYOTO/TOKYO
After free day in Kyoto you will return to Tokyo by the Shinkansen bullet train. You will stay at the same hotel in downtown Tokyo (1 night). DAY 7 (THU). TOKYO/SENDAI
You will be met and transferred to Tokyo Station. You will take the Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train to Sendai and enjoy an afternoon tour of the city, visiting Aobajo Castle and other historical legacies. You will stay at Sendai Kokusai Hotel (1 night).
DAY 8 (FRI). SENDAI/MATSUSHIMA/AIZU-WAKAMATSU (breakfast/dinner)
Enjoy a motor coach tour of Shiogama and Matsushima, famous for its breathtaking marine sceneries and historic jewels. You will proceed to Aizu-Wakamatsu and stay at Higashiyama Grand Hotel (ryokan). Enjoy an authentic Japanese dinner, hot springs bath and Japanese lifestyle.
DAY 9 (SAT). AIZU-WAKAMATSU/TOKYO (breakfast/lunch)
Enjoy a motor coach tour of Tsurugajo Castle, samurai houses, sake brewery and more in this historic city. You will return to Tokyo by the Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train and stay your last night in Japan at the same hotel in downtown Tokyo (1 night).
10 (SUN). TOKYO/NARITA/U.S.A.
Transfer from your hotel to Narita Airport via Airport Limousine Bus. You will return to the U.S. on the same day.
